Tim Scott Pledges to Repeal New Health Care Bill if Elected GOP Candidate

March 22, 2010

Republican congressional candidate Tim Scott signed the “Repeal It!” pledge sponsored by the Club for Growth and plans to fight the government takeover of healthcare. Scott, who signed the pledge on February 20th, is currently the only one of 10 Republican and 4 Democrat candidates running to replace retiring Congressman Henry Brown, who has signed the pledge.

“The Democrats in Washington are taking America down the wrong path. This new bill means billions of dollars in new taxes, rising costs for health insurance, government interference with doctor-patient relationships, and an erosion of our freedom by forcing Americans to purchase health insurance or be penalized,” Scott said. “It’s bigger government, more spending, and fewer liberties.”

Tim believes that while we do desperately need health care reform, it needs to be structured on the free market that focuses on competition, choices, and reducing government involvement. “As your Congressman, I will vote to overturn this legislation and sponsor sweeping free market reform ideas aimed at restoring competitive innovation and fiscal sanity to the health care debate.

The Club for Growth’s “Repeal It!” pledge is a commitment to the people of Congressional District 1 that I will “sponsor and support legislation to repeal any federal health care takeover passed in 2010, and replace it with real reforms that lower health care costs without growing government.”

The American Voice Heard

March 13, 2010

Congressional Candidate, Tim Scott joins Republican Congressional leaders in support of one-year moratorium on earmarks.

I am pleased to see that yesterday the House Republicans announced they will not seek congressional earmarks this year. This is an important step in reining in government spending and the funding of special interest projects, and restoring the American voice in Washington.

Last week, I signed the House Earmark Reform Pledge put forth by the Citizens Against Government Waste. By signing this pledge, I am committing to end the hold of the special interests on Washington and the funding of projects that do not benefit American citizens. You can be sure that I am going to Washington to change politics as usual and be a voice for overburdened taxpayers and families.

But I need your help.

Please join my team, donate to my campaign, and please ask 10 of your friends to do the same. With your help, we can take back Washington and restore fiscal responsibility to Congress.
